When faced with the silo mentality, try turning things upside down!

If I hear senior managers complaining one more time about the prevailing silo mentality in their companies...

A free tip: whenever you're faced with the conundrum of silo mentality, try designing and setting up process-related KPIs starting from the customer and then work your way backwards to the beginning of the process and its triggers. Once this is done, take a close look at the reward system. Bonuses are usually tied to achieving your organizational unit's KPIs, which are often cascaded top-down in a vertical manner. Instead, try designing bonuses aligned with the process-related KPIs. These should reflect the contribution of each position towards the horizontal KPIs. Changing the reward system can lead to changed behaviors and help tear down the silo walls that are 'inherently built into any organization'... Or maybe not?

No need to thank me!
