We need to embrace the new concept of strategy

More than ever, we need to embrace the new concept of strategy. Strategy may not be perceived as a strict plan that will guide an organization into the precisely defined future, but rather as an intent creating a positive tension between current and future state of an organization. A strategy should direct all the actions within an organization using a mixture of deliberate managerial intentions and the subsequent emerging developments. In the turmoil of changes, we need to know where we are heading our organizations, but at the same time allow enough flexibility for coping with unanticipated events. As Yogi Berra so eloquently put it: “You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there.”
